Tameside Racial Equality Council will work towards providing a high quality and efficient service in a manner in which the people of Tameside (irrespective of their colour, creed and nationality) will feel safe and free from the fear of racial harassment and violence.

Tameside Racial Equality Council will further work in partnership with front-line service providers, employers and voluntary organisations to eliminate racial discrimination and promote greater equality of opportunity for black and ethnic minority people in Tameside.

OUR KEY OBJECTIVES

In order to implement and develop the provision of the Race Relations Act 1976 and provide a high quality, effective local service, Tameside Racial Equality Council is committed to the following objectives:-

 
To work towards the elimination of racial discrimination, ensuring people seeking redress have access to advice and support.
To promote good relations between persons of different racial origins in Tameside.
To work closely with service providers and employers monitoring the effect of policies and practices that impinge on equality of opportunity and enable change.
To enhance community development work with black ethnic minority people and their organisations through a need-led process, using gradual encouragement, education and training.
To ensure maximum community participation through consultation and involvement.
To undertake public information and public education.
